After graduating with honors from Duke University with a double degree in Political Science and Art history, Robin moved to Snowmass Village in 1972. She managed an art gallery and worked at the Stonebridge Inn until her marriage and subsequent move from the Aspen area.
She returned to the Aspen area in 1993 with her four children who ranged in age from sixteen to six. Robin helped design, open and then managed Steuben glass gallery, which was the sole franchise in the nation, until its closure in 1997. In 1998 Robin obtained her real estate license and began working with Heidi and Houston & O’Leary. When Houston & O’Leary was purchased, Robin and Heidi left to form the partnership which is now Houston & Gorog Company.
Three of Robin’s children graduated from Aspen High School and her daughter, Gretchen Bleiler, won a silver medal in Snowboarding at the 2006 Torino Winter Olympics. Her oldest son is a cartographer in Denver, her second son is a Producer at CNN in Atlanta, and her youngest son is a sophomore at the University of San Diego. Robin remarried four years ago to an Aspenite of 25 years.
The Aspen community has helped shape Robin’s life and the lives of her children as well as being very supportive of her daughter’s snowboarding career. Robin has given back to the community by being involved with Aspen High School, Aspen Country Day, St Mary Church, and the Aspen Valley Ski and Snowboard Team. Robin takes great pleasure in bringing new families to this wonderful Aspen community.
REAL ESTATE EXPERIENCE
In the years that Robin has been selling real estate, she has established an impressive list of national and international clients. She works closely with families, who often become friends as well as clients. This network of clients is a great referral pipeline for new clients. The sale of the Peak House, which occurred early in her career, was one of her toughest deals to bring to a close involving governmental agencies and four separate law firms. In the past year alone, her sales have totaled over $66,000,000.00 and represented large homes, small homes, condos, and land.
Her clients range from young investors, sports figures and celebrities to Aspen locals. Her sales range from low end condos in Rifle to high end ranches in Old Snowmass.
DEVELOPMENT
Robin has been involved in many developments through her real estate years. Heidi and Robin purchased a home in the West End, remodeled it and resold it, all within one year. She has assisted in the development of the Spring Ridge project in Glenwood which encompasses over 100 lots. She also has assisted in redevelopments in Old Snowmass and in Glenwood.
With her combined knowledge of the real estate market and the development end of the business, Robin has been able to provide excellent services to her many clients.
Patience and perseverance is her motto. “I really like to be able to fit the family to the home and not the other way around. When you concentrate on what the family really wants, the choices begin to narrow and all of a sudden, the perfect home becomes obvious. This might take a week or a year, but eventually, there is a click and the deal is done.”
